Ravana put down the water, Sita crossed the line, and Ravana took his actual dress, and his actual comportment and left his disguise as a sadhu. How did Ravana carry Sita away from Ravana? He gave Sharanga to Lord Vishnu and Pinaka to Lord Shiva. It is mentioned in the Hindu epic Ramayana, when its hero Rama (another avatar of Vishnu) breaks it to marry Janaka’s daughter as his wife. It was later found by King Devaratha, the ancestor of King Janaka. Sita undergoes Agni Pariksha (an ordeal of fire) by which she proves her chastity before she is accepted by Rama. In the Ramayana, Sita – the consort of Rama (the prince of Ayodhya and an avatar of the god Vishnu) – is seized by Ravana and imprisoned in Lanka, until she is rescued by Rama, who slays her captor. Advised by his ministers, Ravana sang hymns in praise of Shiva for a thousand years. He put all his twenty arms under Kailash and started lifting it. In turn, Ravana decided to uproot Kailash, infuriated by Nandi’s curse and his inability to proceed further. READ ALSO: Does the Bible say that God wants us to be happy?
